            Here I am trying to get ready for the club and my hair a mess. I can’t get it to lay flat or curl. I t won’t even wrap like it suppose to. Arrgh, sometimes I hate going out but Tia and Casey said it would be good for me.  About three months ago, my boyfriend of two years decides he wanted to see other people. I didn’t think of it something bad just, he wanted something new, something fresh. So I quietly went on with my life and decide to focus on other things like work and self-improvement.  Tia thought it was my way of not dealing with the pain, which it was. Casey, on the other hand, thought it was because I was hoping after he dated a few girls that he would come back to me with his tail between his legs begging me to come back.  To be truthful, both of them were correct. I mean after investing time in a man, not a raggedy man but a good man he decides he wants to upgrade to a new woman for curiosity sake. 

            But I digress; I was trying to get ready for the club, so I brought a new outfit and decide to have fun. I put on the radio while still trying to get my hair right, and this club banger came on. I stopped and started dancing to the beat and singing the words, “I ‘m going to Dance my pain away, I got problems, Dance my Pain away, I got Problems…” I continued to sing the words to the song until I realized it was 15 minutes until I had to met Tia and Casey at Tia’s house. I quickly decide it wasn’t worth trying to curl my hair. I made a part on the left making sure it looked well moisturized and gel the back down to prevent the appearance of the new undergrowth.  I grabbed the rest of my jewelry, shoes and ran out the apartment quickly.  I bumped into on of the tenants going down the steps.

 “Watch out, sexy you might catch your self a man tonight.”, he said casually with a hint of confidence. I smiled and began to blush a little after his comment.   I continued on my run to the car in my four inch heels. Once to the car toke one heal off to drive with my flip flops for some reason I can’t drive in heels.

            As I head over to Tia House I realized that, I didn’t put any deodorant on as a slight odor began to develop. Luckily I was right at the corner of Tia Street. I made a sharp left turn into a parking spot. My car was crooked but it it in a spot and right in front of her house. I looked around and didn’t see Casey car as I approached her front door. I knocked three times when, she flew it open as, she greeted me with a bubbly happiness. I wish I could describe her reaction but it was a mix between urban coolness and true happiness like she just found her long lost sister with hints of realizing you so close to finishing a certain task. Tia used me in the house and gave me a once over.

            “Girl, you look gorgeous with sex appeal oozing from every crevice you have!” she said as her eyes got bigger. “Are you going to put on some jewelry on?”

“Oh yeah I didn’t want to be late.” As I held up my small white plastic bag, and head towards her bathroom.

“And Hannah, you might want to change on of your shoes” She yelled out to me as I proceeded to go into the bathroom. I looked down briefly and realized that I still had my flip flop on.  I proceed to put my sliver accessories on, I figured if my hair looked plain than Glamorize everything else. I had silver hoop earrings on that seem to get bigger with each hoop. I had a purple and silver necklace that shimmered just right when any type of light hit it. Of course silver bangles on both wrist to  My dress was the same color of my necklace a warm summery purple, with silver hoops that tied around the back of my neck. I wore my black heels because of the hits of silver plus my purse was black.  Once everything was finished I was thrilled by the look. It seemed sexy yet classy.

             As I head down stairs I heard Casey come in with her outrageously loud outfit, all I heard was clanking. As I went down stairs I saw why it clanked she wore her stripper out fit that had beads and fringes of plastic beads that hung every where.  She had gold accessory even gold along her eye shadow.  Even her pants had beads and fringes on it.  Tia was cool she wore basic brown but some how it seemed more than just brown which made it extra sexy. 

             “Some one’s going to get man tonight!” as her voice seemed a million times louder and nasally. “Naw were all going to get a man tonight!” as she picked her purse up and head toward the door. “So are you’ll ready?” as she put her hands on the door knob about to open the door.

            “Yeah.” Tia exclaimed pushing me out her house. We rode out Exodus in Casey Jeep which was freshly clean. When we got to t eh club there was no line. I figured it was a slow night it since it was 11:30.  Once inside there was nothing but women laughing and giggling and dancing.  I thought to myself no man catching tonight, as I proceed to the dance floor and danced. Casey and Tia followed as we dance to the music. The music was okay as the DJ mixed Old school reggae with Reggaton which created a blend of winding and grinding dancing. No men came up to dance with use they just stood off to the side drinking whatever the choice of drink was that night.  After a while the ones who had enough liquor in them came up and danced. Tia had zoned out to the music so most me just approached me and Casey. Casey danced with every man that crossed her path. I danced with a few but most of them was old enough to be my father and Several of them proceed to attempted to penetrated me through my clothes. After three men got too personal with my thighs I sat down. My feet were killing me, so I decide to sit for a second. I began taking of my heels to see if any blister were forming. When this man approached me. “Excuse me, would you like me to rub your feet?” I looked up to see an attractive man standing over me about to sit down.  I was taken back by his question, after a moment, I finally answered “Umm…. No but thanks for the offer.” I slipped my shoe back on but he proceeded to sit beside me. “My name is Ronald, and your is …” as he smiled inching closer “Hannah.” I finally got up to head back to the dance floor, but Ronald stopped me and asked if I would like a drink. “No, I don’t know you like that.” I made my over to Casey and began dancing. About five minutes later some guy started dancing with me.  It was cool he wasn’t trying to rape me through my clothes and he actually had rhythm. Then the same voice as before, whispered in my ear “ I would like to know you a little better so how about we go grab a bite to eat at the all night dinner up the street.” Ronald was dancing and grinding with me. I thought to myself I might as well grab a bite to eat and I would like to get to know him better. So I whispered back only if my friends can come ?” He shook his head leaning over  with the scent of unforgivable playing in my nose slow arousing me “ Just meet me at the front door in 10 min.” Just as he walked away I felt someone grab my arm. “Girl who was that?” asked Casey noticing she was missing some of her outfit. “Oh… some guy I just met his name Ronald, he asked if we wanted to grab a quick meal up at Grandma Bella’s” Casey paused for a second, thinking “Okay lets find Tia and leave. As we moved through the crowd of people I notice Tia in the corner of the club lip locking with some dude. He wasn’t attractive so we figured Tia must have been drunk. We pulled Tia away with no protest. Usually pulling someone away with no protest meant she only was teasing him and he probably was high and drunk to. When we got to the front door, I saw Ronald and three other men. They were nice, equally good looking in their own way none of them had any enduring qualities. We all left for Bella’s, once there we found a table for seven. Once seated conversation began to pick up nothing great the usually how the club music was, the food, a little bit about each other. Casey and Tia weren’t really feeling the other men, but then again there tastes in men were different.  During the meal, Ronald made an interesting comment about bumping into his neighbor who was in a rush.  Then it donned on me Ronald was my neighbor from next floor. I had bumped into rushing out of the building.  After paying the bill he slipped me his cell phone number and told me to call him. We parted ways after that. Once getting in the Truck Casey started talking “Hannah, your something, got four men to pay our dinner, to bad they wasn’t more street.” As began driving back to Tia’s. “I know” said Tia, “shit I don’t know what you did to them but shit girl, we got to go out more than this, free dinners after dancing” She continued to talk about one of the men that was with us and saying she wouldn’t mind getting to know him better. As we pulled up to Tia house we each went our separate ways. As I proceed to my apartment I looked at his number and wondered if I should call him. I mean my feet were hurting and a free foot won’t really lead to anything. I mean we might kiss a little, but I will get my foot rub and felt up a little and leave and keep him as a friend. As I parked the car in the lot, I saw him walking toward the building. I quickly locked the door and hasten my step toward him. Just as he proceeded up the step I stopped him. “ Hey Ronald, I was wondering if the foot rub was still available?” He sheepishly, smiled and said “ Of course, your place or mine?”

           I know crappy right! but hey i was bored.

Date Ideas for March 2013:

Last night I had a man allude to the idea that they wanted to go to the movies. The picked the Beltway movies and they are showing films that came out last year (Argo, Life of Pi, Django and Zero Dark Thirty). I should warn you, I only am interested in two movies on here; one is Life of Pi and Django. I have already seen Django. Right now, my mind needs easing and not thought provoking such as Life of Pi.  I realized men are still failing at good quality dates.  I love movie dates, but not when they are half-assed. A movie can tell you a lot about a person, are they happy go lucky, as they depressed, are they intellectual. I am a simple person, so I need more of an Action movie or comedy. I am not trying to over think and really just want to relax and leave the theater either happy or excited.  Here are some groupon date ideas that I think people would like and are cheap.

My point of view...sort of?

I live in my own world. I know evil things happen and it makes me sad. I know people are not as kind as they once were due to Media, lack of accountability, and what I like to call the Jones effect. More people are trying to keep up with the Jones rather than be who they are. I personally, hate the Jones’ they are self-absorbed and spend too much money.  So I decided a long time ago, that I would just give up some of the things I love for my own sanity.  Things, I gave up having a smartphone, Netflix, Sneakers, video games, and buying books.  It appears I gave up a lot but really, it was small things I did to save my sanity.

I originally had a Samsung Blackjack which was a windows based smartphone. I loved it was the best phone ever. My bill was so much money like $150 a month. I wasn’t feeling that plus I had to add my brother to the plan so it was a smart move to get a simple regular phone. The cool thing regular phones still had all the features I enjoyed. I had internet, I could use Google maps.  I can check my email, twitter, my good read, and livingsocial.  I am content without a smartphone. No I am not hip like some people but that fine with me. Up until recently could still listen to music through, YouTube and watch some TV shows.

I think as soon as I learned about Netflix I was a member I should have brought stock in them but again I was blind. I loved it I could rent DVD and they came to my mailbox and I could watch them. If I missed in the theater, I would catch it a few weeks late a la Netflix. Also I could cultivate my love of independent films that I usually missed in the theaters. But, they use to have this policy if you lose three DVD than your membership would be suspended and your account charged the cost of the DVD. Add in a family that does not pay attention and a hectic work schedule and Netflix is sort of pointless.  Even though I had a DVD player it didn’t work 46% of the time. I just decide to catch free movies on cable.  To pay attention to independent movies to see them in the theater, the creation of hulu this worked just fine for me.  I do miss Netflix at times but not enough to reactivate my account. I thank Netflix for forcing me to live life outside. Besides I started getting real good at find free movies and screenings.

I love sneakers. I loved Adidas, Nike, Fila, Reebok, New Balance and Converse. My goal was to have a signature pair from each company in at least two colors. After a while I started to pay attention to successful, people and they didn’t really care what type of shoes someone was wearing.  I realized that $500 a year going to shoes even if I saved money was a wasted. No one cared if I wore the newest Converse or  Nike air. The people who did care were not people I would want in my inner circle. So I decided that tennis can go in a picture folder and I was cool with whatever shoes I decided to purchase.

Video Games and Buying Books fall into the same catergorey, as things I like but when do I have the time to play or read them. A part of me hates driving cause, I am unable to play video games or read books like I use to.  When I first started to work, at my current job, I had to use public transportation. I use to have so much freedom. I was distressed and I could read so many books. Once I started to drive, my stress levels went up and I got fat. I also stopped buying video games and books cause instead of taking a few days to read it took me months. I stopped buying them because it was a waste of money. I miss my games and books, but not enough to keep up with them. 

Comparison of people.... Why?

So today while trying to focus and finish up as many PCR for my project I was listening to different artist and musicians. I realized that the difference between why some blow up and other don’t marketing and publicist. I have known this for a long time but finally have a second to sit down and flush out some of my thoughts on this subject. I will only use a few, nothing major. Most of them are within the realm of hip-hop and R&B. 

Let take our first comparison, Kelly Rowland and Beyoncé. Both of them are original members of a very successful R&B/Pop group Destiny’s Child. Both of them have amazing voices that have different Range. When Destiny’s Child first broke up I was pretty sure both women would have amazing careers. I realized that through Kelly has a stronger voice. Beyoncé had an amazing marketing team. So you may ask what does this mean, well this means that Ms. Rowland would always play understudy to Beyoncé.  Kelly Rowland first album was panned by critics in America. While Beyoncé went on to win a Grammy for Dangerously in Love.  As they embarked in about 10 years later Beyoncé still holds reigns as the most successful member of Destiny’s child. Kelly Rowland has found success in Europe, doing dance music and she is one of the baddest R&B chicks in the game with a beautiful body.  She has a fitness DVD which will tear up your abs. In addition, she has done more features on other songs, but will never hit superstardom as her counterpart Beyoncé. One thing, I will give to her, some of her songs are definitely aimed at a more adult audience. Pretty much you can put some of her songs on when you are with your lover.

Second comparison is Drake and Kid Cudi both Rappers, that got their start as hook men (singing or rapping the hook on other track). Neither of their styles are the same, but they are pretty much emo (emotional).  At one point I, though Kid Cudi had an opportunity to define his career and be ultra-successful. Alas, Drake has the Cash Money/Young Money marketing machine, and was able to get more fans and producers on his team. Drake also has an upper hand due to Degrassi past.  The thing is when you listen to both men’s first album Kid Cudi had a much stronger lyric content and actually shared a part of himself with his Fans. Drake was very beat heavy and was great for working out. It took about three listens to hear that he was actually sharing parts of his past with the world.  Both men had great coming out albums, but then came the second album, Drake showed that he was here to stay and that he knew how to market to both the R&B crowd, Hip-Hop crowd, and the Pop market. Kid Cudi fell into the sophomore slump and only had one hit off his 2^nd album, “Erase me”.  In my humble opinion, Kid Cudi is the better rapper, but Drake has the better appeal to the music market.

The comparison doesn’t stop with just Musicians but also Comedians and Actors.  Kevin Hart and Katt Williams are both extremely funny men. They both have had respectable careers, with top rated comedy shows, appearances on different musicians’ albums. At one point both men will be inducted in the comedy hall of fame if they ever created one. Sometime in the last two years, one man’s careers have skyrocketed to infinite heights, while another one has feel victim to the Dave Chappelle Syndrome.  The only thing I can pin point was Kevin Hart’s publicist is amazing, navigating and probably advising their client how to appeal to his fan base and increase it. While Katt Williams’s publicist is collecting a check on a beach in St. Topaz as his client kamikaze the amazing career he built.

Early in 2000’s two R&B divas came out one with a soulful voice that could rock your soul, another one with amazing range and clear love songs. These Divas were Amerie and Alicia Keys. Both of these women have backgrounds in music.  Both artist had amazing hits off of their first albums and had woman car-oking to their songs. As above the sophomore slump came and Alicia Keys, soared to new heights, getting parts in movies, singing along some of the greatest artist from the 70’s-80’s.  Amerie fell off quickly with no more than a whimper. Yes she came back with a few other CD’s but never was able to hit the heights that were set by Alicia Keys.

I could go on the list for days but I won’t, the same goes TV shows, look at Emily Owens, M.D vs. The Mindy Project.  The Mindy Project had better marketing, along with better material. Amy Adams vs. Isla Fisher, hands down Amy Adams is winning the red head funny girl battle along with Oscar Nominations. The oldest comparison that was not mentioned was Jay-Z vs. Nas but well as you see Jay-z owns 1% of the Nets and is makes making money look like child’s play.  Furthermore, “Don’t Trust the B---- in Apt 23” vs. New Girl for odd main characters. Well New Girl still on and the aforementioned apt. 23 has been cancelled.  All I was trying to allude to is that marketing plays a big role in whom, what has a bigger legacy when etched out in the history books of pop culture.
